When it comes to relationships, women are socialized to make their partner’s life easier. They are often taught to take care of the house, raise the kids, and support their partner’s career.
Men are taught their value comes from money and monogamy…or at least pretending to be monogamous.
These gendered relationship expectations rely on a world where the man is the primary breadwinner.
But we don’t live in that world anymore.
More women are building careers and entering relationships where they may earn as much as (or more than) the men they date. Yet men haven’t responded by taking on the dishes and the laundry and the cooking.
