Welcome to Do As We Say, Not As They Did!

One in Five Adults Have No Close Friends

Obligatory capitalism rant incoming: Where did all our third spaces go?

People used to get regular social interaction from things like Elks clubs, Rotary clubs, bowling leagues, rec sports, or even just going to the mall and grabbing an Orange Julius.

Now, even thinking about going out can cost you $50, and transporting yourself to and from the city or the club or a restaurant can already account for most of your free time.

Turns out that relationships are harder to build and maintain when even being around other humans costs time and money we don’t always have.

So when we talk about a “male loneliness epidemic,” maybe we should be talking about the loneliness epidemic, and the economic and social conditions making connection harder for everyone.

On the latest episode of @DoAsWeSayPod, @DrLizPowell and @DrNerdLove are unpacking what’s really causing loneliness and what we can do about it (even if we can’t dismantle capitalism by next week 😉).
