One of the easiest traps to fall into in relationships is believing that the early excitement is the “real” version of love, and that anything calmer or more familiar must mean something has gone wrong.

But the truth is that no relationship stays in that honeymoon phase forever (that would be exhausting!). Over time, you learn each other’s stories, habits, and quirks. The mystery fades, and the relationship shifts from discovery to maintenance.

And that’s the point where the real work begins.

Because if every partner you’ve ever had eventually starts asking you to pull your weight, help with the housework, or actually invest in the relationship, the problem probably isn’t that every woman you date suddenly becomes a nag.

It might just be that they’ve reached the point where the novelty has worn off, and they’re asking you to show up as an actual partner. What a concept!

In Episode 13 of @DoAsWeSayPod, @DrLizPowell and @DrNerdLove talk about what happens when someone mistakes the natural evolution of a relationship for a sign that they should start over with someone new.
